The VK 3001 (H) was a prototype German medium tank from the Second World War. Only four prototypes of the vehicle appeared in 1941, but the car did not enter mass production. The drive was provided by a single Maybach HL 116 engine with 300 hp. It was armed with a single 75mm KwK 37 L / 24 gun or a 105mm KwK L / 28 gun and two 7.92mm MG34 machine guns.
Work on the VK 3001 began at Henschel shortly before the outbreak of World War II. The company then developed a design for a new medium tank (VK 3001) and heavy tank (VK 3601), which were to have as many common elements as possible, which would facilitate their operation and possible repairs. The design and prototypes of the VK 3001 (H) were largely based on the Pz.Kpfw. IV - the major change, however, was the use of a completely new chassis, consisting of overlapping wheels - similar to the later on the Pantera and Tiger tanks. The VK 3001 (H) project was canceled in 1942 as little prospect for the development of the Pz.Kpfw VI Tiger front.
