Among other things, in 1901 the Army Nurse Corps was created, and in 1908 the Medical Corps. In the same year, the Army Reserve was also created Medical Corps). During World War I, these services grew significantly. An example is the Army Nurse Corps, which in 1901 had only 200 nurses, but in 1918 its number increased to ... 20,000! It is also worth adding that even before the outbreak of the war, effective methods of mobilizing professional medical personnel were developed and appropriate training methods were developed. All this paid off in the years 1917-1918, when more than 30,000 doctors were mobilized, including the best specialists in the US, including George Crile - the first surgeon in the history of medicine who successfully used blood transfusions during surgery.
