The Drzyma³a car went down in the history of our country as a symbol of the struggle of Polish societies with Germanization carried out in the Prussian (German) partition. Its owner was Micha³ Drzyma³a - a Polish peasant living in the area of today's province. Greater Poland, who in 1904 bought a plot of land in the village of Podgradowice (today's Drzyma³owo) and decided to build his house there. However, the Prussian administration opposed it, which, while implementing the policy of Germanization, made it difficult for Poles to erect buildings at that time. Therefore, Micha³ Drzyma³a decided to buy a circus cart, in which he lived with his family and which he moved short distances once a day, thus arguing that it was not subject to Prussian construction law. The legal and administrative dispute between the Polish peasant and the Prussian bureaucratic and administrative machine lasted from 1904 to 1909. Finally, Micha³ Drzyma³a bought a new plot with an old house, which he renovated. However, his fight became famous in Poland and even gained European fame. In the course of his fight, Micha³ Drzyma³a used two cars - the first circus in the years 1904-1908 and the second, purchased from public donations of much better quality in the period 1908-1909. The second car was made in Poznań in Rybaki (the name of the part of the city and the street running in it). It was 8 meters long and 2.5 meters wide.
